In this patient video featuring Laurel Zortman and Dr. Clint Wooten, Laurel describes her hip replacement journey and the activities she has returned to since surgery. A mother of five and grandmother of eight, she sought care when hip pain began to interrupt her active lifestyle.
Dr. Clint Wooten, an adult reconstruction specialist who trained at the Mayo Clinic and practices in Bountiful, Utah, with Mountain Orthopaedics, replaced her right hip and, shortly after, her left. Within months of her second procedure, Laurel was back to her active lifestyle, regularly completing bike rides, jogs, walks and hikes without hip pain.
Dr. Wooten shares his perspective on the procedure. He explains that most hip procedures are soft tissue based and that instrumentation supports a less aggressive surgical process. He describes hearing patients talk about time with family and personal accomplishments as the most rewarding part of his work.
Laurel says she is grateful to be back outdoors walking, running and hiking, and she plans to stay active throughout her life.
ODEV thanks Laurel and Dr. Wooten for sharing their experience.
