Ortho Development recently completed a medical mission trip to Honduras, partnering with One World Surgery and Holy Family Surgery Center to provide joint replacement surgery to patients without regular access to orthopedic care. For four days, a team of surgeons, clinicians and volunteers worked through a full surgical schedule aimed at restoring mobility for patients who would otherwise go without treatment.
The team included 34 volunteers: 3 orthopedic surgeons, 19 physician assistants, scrub technicians, nurses, a medical student and anesthesia providers, 7 general volunteers and 5 ODEV employees and product representatives. Over the course of the trip, they completed 54 procedures: 52 total knee replacements and 2 hip revisions. Dr. Brigham Au, Dr. Kai Elliott and Dr. Randy Clark performed the surgeries, all three participating in a Honduras mission with One World Surgery for the first time.
ODEV thanks the surgeons, volunteers and partner organizations who made this year’s mission possible.
