In 1999, I joined a small startup with big dreams as employee number 25. Today, Ortho Development has grown to over 230 employees, surpassed $100 million in annual revenue, and helped countless people do what they love through restored mobility. Leading this company has been one of the great honors of my life, and I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of the journey.
It is with mixed emotions I share some significant news: My wife and I have accepted an invitation to pause our personal and professional lives for three years to serve an unpaid, full-time ministry as mission leaders in Santiago, Chile, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
At the end of June, Monica and I will move to South America. Over the next three years, we will lead ~500 young men and women (ages 18–24) as they serve and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the wonderful people of Chile.
I served a two-year mission in Santiago decades ago – an experience that profoundly shaped my life, thanks largely to the example of my mission leaders. We see this calling as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a similar impact and we are honored to accept it.
𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁?
I have absolute confidence in its future. Our culture is rooted in delivering an unrivaled customer experience and we have the strongest leadership team in our history. When I step away, the company will be in excellent hands.
I’ve worked closely with our Board of Directors and the leadership of our parent company, Japan MDM, to ensure a smooth transition.
Effective July 1, we will refine our executive leadership structure, and I’m pleased to announce:
𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. Greg has been with ODEV for 25 years and is a trusted and steady leader. As President he will oversee day-to-day operations and ensure continuity, focus, and excellence.
𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗼 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗘𝗢. Hiro currently oversees ODEV at Japan MDM. He brings over 30 years of global leadership experience, including a distinguished career at Sony Corporation. His perspective will strengthen our long-term strategy and connection with MDM.
I’ll remain at ODEV for the next several weeks to support Greg and Hiro as they transition into their new roles.
Reflecting on the past 26 years, I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished and excited for what lies ahead. ODEV has never been about one person. It’s about a team of employees, distributors, vendors, and the surgeons we support – all working together to help people do what they love through restored mobility.
Thank you for your trust, friendships, and the memories. I look forward to staying connected and cheering for ODEV’s continued success!
