Ortho Development Sponsors Medical Mission in Honduras

Together, we are helping people do what they love by restoring mobility.

Recently, 47 volunteers came together in Honduras to participate in a medical mission sponsored by Ortho Development in partnership with One World Surgery and the Holy Family Surgery Center.

We had the privilege of performing life-changing knee and hip replacements for patients who lack the means to access these medical procedures. Over four days, our volunteers completed 45 total joint replacements.

We want to sincerely thank our team of volunteer surgeons whose expertise and dedication made these surgeries possible. Additionally, we want to thank Dr. Merlin Antúnez and the incredible staff at the Holy Family Surgery Center, the One World Surgery team, and all the other volunteers who contributed their time, energy and means to make this mission successful. It’s not just about the surgeries we performed but the lives we touched and the futures we helped shape. Together, we are helping people do what they love by restoring mobility.

“The collective effort of these extraordinary individuals, who generously contributed their expertise, time and financial support, has undoubtedly left a mark in a country where people do not have ready access to surgical care. The ripple effect of these transformative surgeries extends beyond measure, significantly impacting the patients’ lives, their families, and the broader communities they are part of,” said Brent Bartholomew, Ortho Development President and CEO.

“The decision to attend my second mission to Honduras with Ortho Development was an easy one. I have nothing but praise for the organizers from ODEV to One World Surgery. They make the process of sharing one’s time, treasure, and talents seamless,” said Dr. Todd Duellman, Wisconsin River Orthopaedics.
